Why is it important that your company’s values, vision, and mission are aligned? 

Alignment of values, vision, and mission gives leaders and people clarity in "Why" your company exists.  This phase of the Organizational Values Navigator process is critical to establishing a solid foundation for your desired culture.  

Values, Vision, and Mission Alignment helps define what you believe, where you want to go, and how you are going to get there.  This process defines your company's purpose by facilitating a conversation around what is most important, your Core Values.  What you believe as an organization (Core Values) should then drive where you want to go (Vision).  Once you understand where you want to go, you can better articulate how you are going to get there (Mission).  To truly understand your company's purpose, it is critical that your core values and vision inform your mission.      

Organizations often start by crafting the Mission statement first, followed by the Vision statement.  Typically, Core Values are the final component most organizations consider.  This flawed process flow does not truly allow for an understanding of an organization's purpose.  The focus starts with what we do and not why we do it. The 'why' is crucial in guiding the 'what' and 'how'.

Core Values Mapping

 

Core Values are the soul of an organization, they are the foundation for its culture.

Core Values Mapping is a science-based proprietary tool that enables Purpose HQ to actually map your core values on a nine-point scale to ten Dimensions and thirty Facets of values and virtues.  This mapping process allows us to paint a picture of your core values and desired culture through defined motivations, environments, and mindsets of behaviors associated with your core values.  This mapping process also enables us to establish a foundation on which to overlay what your organization's leadership believes and desires your culture to be, and perhaps most importantly, what your people actually value.

Organizational Values Survey

The Organizational Values Survey (OVS) is a science-based survey that is administered to your organization's leadership - typically your executive and mid-level leadership team(s).  The survey consists of two sets of thirty questions.  The first set of questions asks your leaders to select values and virtue statements that reflect your company's current culture, from their perspective.  The second set of questions asks your leaders to select values and virtue statements that reflect what they desire the company's culture to be in the future.  The purpose of this survey is to paint a picture of what your leaders believe your values and culture to be.

Like the Core Values Mapping, the OVS enables Purpose HQ to map what your leadership believes the culture to be on the same nine-point scale to ten Dimensions and thirty Facets of values and virtues.  This allows us to make a hard comparison of what your Core Values represent in your desired culture to what your leadership team(s) believe the culture to be at the time of the survey.  

The OVS enables your leadership team(s) to directly engage in crafting and defining your core values and ultimately your organizational cultural framework. 

Personal Values Questionnaire

Knowing what your people actually value can be a significant step in engaging them in your intentional company culture. 

The Personal Values Questionnaire (PVQ)  is a science-based questionnaire administered to your organization's leadership and staff.  The questionnaire asks your people to select values and virtue statements that reflect their individual values.  The purpose of this questionnaire is to paint a picture of each individual's personal values.

Like the Core Values Mapping and Organizational Values Survey, the PVQ enables Purpose HQ to map your people's personal values to the same nine-point scale to ten Dimensions and thirty Facets of values and virtues.  This allows us to make a hard comparison to what your Core Values represent in your desired culture through the Core Values Mapping exercise, what your leadership team(s) believe the culture to actually be through the Organizational Values Survey, and what your people actually value.  

The PVQ allows you to not only understand what your people value, but also allows you to better understand and align their actual values with your company's core values and ultimately desired culture.  This enables important buy-in and ownership of your core values and desired culture by the people who live and work in it.
